Description
Kemrocktook enormous pride in commissioning India's first commercial Carbon Fibre facility in May 2010. Inaugurated by ex President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, and utilising technical know-how from CSIR - National Aerospace Laboratories, Bengaluru, Kemrock's facility is leading India's quest for self-sufficiency in carbon fibre technology. Making its own precursor to ensure the correct quality fibre, the initial 400 tonnes per annum capacity will serve the Defence, Aerospace and Infrastructure sectors.
Kemrock's carbon fibre manufacturing facility is fully integrated, including polymerisation, wet spinning, oxidation and carbonisation of the fibre as well as all utilities for effluent and waste management.
The recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Kemrock and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore to form a joint venture for the manufacture of aerospace grade prepregs is a major step forward in servicing the nation's needs. This complements Kemrock's existing use of carbon fibre products in wind energy and infrastructure repair applications.
